I reverted the first patch (which disabled delegate trampolines) and applied
the icache flush patch (r92014) and that fixed the SIGILL issue:

(sid)meebey at bruckner:~/mono-1.2.6+dfsg$ MONO_PATH=mcs/class/lib/monolite
mono/mini/mono --config "/home/meebey/mono-1.2.6/runtime/etc/mono/config"
helloworld.exe 
Hello World!
