Mind you, the approach I used that led to this problem is ugly to begin with,
but what do you expect when you have just started using C# full time and have
this lovely thing called Reflection at your disposal. Coming from C, at first
glance, Reflection leaves itself easily abusable :-D

Banshee in trunk doesn't use any of the code in question now...
