Incidentally, this also happens within MonoDevelop, whether I launch
it from a "dos" prompt or a term.

+Squashed. The mono execution script that was getting installed was
+overriding my PKG_CONFIG_PATH, which is why the problem was
+reproducible in a term but not a dosbox.
