+Putting the thread to a hard sleep is what's causing the cursor to 
+not show up. You shouldn't be doing that. In order for that to work 
+we'd have to use X synchronously which would make it really slow.
+If you want a cursor for a certain time only, you could use a timer 
+to reset it afterwards. Anyways, if I take out the sleep and cursor 
+reset, I get a nice wait cursor on linux.
