 THis only happens on X11, and only if the X server is local. Not sure 
 we can do anything to fix this.

+I talked with Chris and Mike about it, we have no way of knowing if 
+the thread has gone to sleep, so we can't really force a flush out to 
+the display when it happens. Short of forcing X to be synchronous 
+(which would kill performance) I don't think we can fix this. I'm 
+going to close with with WONTFIX, you can reopen if you think there's
