 libgdiplus package in breezy is built against internal cairo (0.4
 iirc?). A Breezy system will have Cairo 1.0 loaded via gtk+ 2.8.  I
 would think this would be gracefully handled, but it seems like a fair
 candidate for "root cause".  A simple winforms app without gtk-dotnet
 works fine, also.

+The exception/segfault is coming out of System.Drawing not Gtk#.  This
+is the infamous miguee hack that seems to be tripping over cairo 1.0.
