+Libmono.dll.a is absolutely necessary for applications that embed
+the runtime. There are not many such apps existing, but w/out
+the import library, there is simply no way to link against
+mono-1.dll. Those apps must be deployed as binaries just
+because libmono.dll.a is missing.
