 I've added a --slowdown option to bludgeon, which allows you to
 specify a number of seconds to sleep between file system operations. 
 My testing hasn't been particularly extensive, but I haven't seen the
 assertion when using --slowdown 0.2... so it certainly sounds like a
 race of some kind.
