+This bug is not reproducible here. the same setup works fine here.

+The possible problems at your end may be
+
+1. use the mysql odbc driver from www.mysql.com
+2. check whether your localhost is properly configured in /etc/hosts.
+(try "ping localhost")
+3. check you have an entry in /etc/odbcinst.ini with section [mysqlodbc]
+
