 I think this is because old versions of mono did not align some
 metadata structures properly, which happened to work under MS.NET 1.1,
 but not 2.0. You should update to mono 1.0.5 or 1.1.3 where this issue
 is fixed.

+Setting bug to NEEDINFO: does upgrading your Mono fix the problem
