 I'm wondering if this is a not so much a bug but a feature and 
 something thats worth keeping? I hate pesky \r\n (cr+lf). Lone 
 standing line feeds apear garbled in windows anyways.

+I agree with Zac, I'd rather keep it as a feature. I can't think of a 
+situation where it'd cause incompatibilities, rather the opposite,
