+With this code block on windows the exceptions raised due to w32api
+overloads are minimize by retrying until it works.  I have had to put
+the win98 fixes on hold to get some other projects out the door. 
+Withoug the changes, heavy loads on winxp/2k will cause mono apps to halt.
