+I had a breakthrough today, trying something I should have tried a 
+long time ago.  Today I tried running the latest version of XSP 
+using MS.NET 1.1 on Windows, and guess what?  I get exactly the same 
+error.  This means it is *not* a low level mono problem and not 
+Linux specific, and thus must be something inside XSP that is 
+causing this!
