Summary: overly zealous 'undo'

Upon editing a document for a perioud of time, using 'CTRL-Z' or the
edit->undo menu item kicks the document waaaaaay back in the editing
history (I'd guess a few hundred 'actions' back in the history).

CTRL-Y/edit->redo does however revert to the proper state, so this is not a
damaging bug, it just reduces the usefulness of 'undo' quite a bit.
