[Mono-aspnet-list] Compiling Mono 2.10.2

My Platform is Linux RedHat .
Have downloaded the mono-2.10.8.tar.gz and have it compiled and installed .
Trying to setup XSP WebServer , but getting the following error . This is
just a showstopper.
The version I have downlaoded is xsp-2.10.2.tar.bz2 and is trying to build
the same . While running 
./configure after cd'ng to the corresponding xsp dir ,getting the following
error.

checking for MONO_MODULE... configure: error: Package requirements (mono >=
2.10.0) were not met:
No package 'mono' found
 
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.
 
Alternatively, you may set the environment variables MONO_MODULE_CFLAGS
and MONO_MODULE_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
