Regardless of which version (the obsolete System.Web.Mail or
the current System.Net.Mail) you'll be using: w/out a current
Mono.Security.dll (as of 2.6) you won't be able to connect to
google over SSL.

Google has changed its certificate a couple of weeks ago
and the new certificate can only be processed by a newer
Mono.Security.dll.
