[Mono-aspnet-list] Mono and .NET with Virtual Earth

Hi,
I am looking to develop a spatial mapping and reporting application for my
business. I am curious as to any experience that users have had with
integrating Virtual Earth mapping with a linux/postgreSQL/PostGIS and
mono/.NET setup.  The idea is to overlay multiple datasets over Virtual
Earth using a web service, and use it with a Mono/.NET web application
interacting with the datbase to generate professional reports in Microsoft
Word/Excel/.PDF.

It sounds like the application will have to be developed in Virtual Studio.
My main concerns are any compatability issues and the viability of writing
this kind of application with Mono.  The alternative is that I would have to
use Server 2008/SQL 2008/Virtual Studio/.NET/Virtual Earth/Word and Excel -
all the Microsoft products.
Does anyone have any knowledge/experience with this that they could share?
