[Mono-aspnet-list] Mono.Http.Modules.BasicAuthenticationModule and database provider

mono webpage says that Mono.Http.Modules.BasicAuthenticationModule
authenticates users against plain XML file... is it possible to authenticate
users against custom database schema or even better asp.net membership
provider? Does such solution exist?
