Subject: [macios-devel] Xamarin.iOS 10.10 Alpha
Last week we released a new alpha version of Xamarin.iOS (release notes<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgithub.com%2Fxamarin%2Fdocumentation%2Fblob%2Fmaster%2Freleases%2Fios%2Fxamarin.ios_10%2Fxamarin.ios_10.10.md%23app-size-and-build-time-improvements-with-code-sharing&data=02%7C01%7CRolf.Kvinge%40microsoft.com%7C0f0b28edce5c4018cd6b08d4801b973e%7C72f988bf86f141af91ab2d7cd011db47%7C1%7C0%7C636274303384092571&sdata=v%2FK9jzoSymRXK6SXWISSFrIqw5yVfGp26NNt%2BMJJ5yQ%3D&reserved=0>), and there are two major features we'd like feedback and testing on:
Code sharing between app containers and their extensions
If your app has extensions, this will shrink your app size significantly.
We'll now not only share the native Mono runtime between an app container and any extensions, but also the native code for the BCL (along with the assembly itself).
Code sharing is enabled by default, so please try rebuilding any projects you may have with extensions, and let us know how it goes.
This mono release contains over half a year of work, and has many new features:
* A Roslyn-based C# compiler (csc) with C# 7 support.
* Increased support for netstandard 2.0
* Official support for msbuild, over xbuild (now deprecated).
There are also numerous other improvements, all listed in the release notes.
