[Gtk-sharp-list] AppIndicator Help

I'm porting an app from Windows to Ubuntu using the Unity Desktop. The app
has what is called in Windows a "notification icon" which appears in the
tray in the bottom right. I've heard of a way to add something similar to
the Unity desktop using AppIndicator. However, I have no idea how to
implement this into my app. Can anyone shed some light on this and get me
going in some direction?
