Yes, it is definitely possible. For the Gtk# OpenGL widget, use
GtkGLAreaSharp:
http://www.mono-project.com/GtkGLSharp
For actually doing the OpenGL rendering, I would use the Tao wrappers:
http://taoframework.com/
Both come with examples and work quite well with each other.
