Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding the encoding of German Umlauts "äüö" on linux with mono. I am developing a mono C# application mainly on Windows using Visual Studio and all special characters are displayed correctly in the windows environment. I am testing the application on the Mono VMWare image and when debugging using Monodevelop or runnig the compiled version of Monodevelp the special characters are displayed as question marks in little boxes. If I copy over the version I have compiled with Visual Studio the display of the special characters in the linux environmen is alrigt. Where does Monodevelop get the wrong encoding from and can this be overridden - the language settings for Opensuse are set to German and UTF-8?

Thanks for any comments or help on this.

Regards,
