[Gtk-sharp-list] GLib.List blows up upon iteration

My mono application blows up "at (wrapper managed-to-native)
GLib.Object.gtksharp_is_object (intptr) <0x0000e>" when I try to iterate
over Gtk.RecentManager.Default.Items.

Is there a special incantation for iterating over GLib.List in managed code?
I am trying to examine the Gtk.RecentInfo objects in
Gtk.RecentManager.Default.Items.
