[Gtk-sharp-list] Gtk.Entry slows to a halt

I have an Entry set up to take input from a user.  In the same window I 
have a DrawingArea.  When the DrawingArea has an ExposeEventHandler 
attached, the Entry is extremely unresponsive and Mono suddenly takes up 
all available CPU time.

Is there something I can do to have the Entry and the DrawingArea 
coexist?  It's not possible for me to use a TextView instead.
