I noticed that I am using libglade 2.4.0, which seems a bit ancient, but 
is the current stable gentoo package. I am going to try the more recent package, 
although it is probably hard masked for a reason. (only 2.5.1? I guess gentoo 
users aren't much into bleeding-edge glade...)
