No, you definitely don't need to do it yourself. It happens somewhere
inside mono itself, I just don't know where.

If you have the .config files installed, your problem is probably not
related to the dll mapping, but is probably something else, like not
having the right versions of the shared libraries installed or
something, which is why I asked the other questions.
