[Gtk-sharp-list] Gtk.Widget.HeightRequest Property

I am getting -1 for Gtk.Widget.HeightRequest and
Gtk.Widget.WidthRequest. Monodoc says:

Value
    The height of the widget.

Remarks
    Or -1 if natural request should be used.

What does "natural request" mean? Apparently that is what I am doing.
