[Gtk-sharp-list] help with installing gtk - sharp

Hello,

I downloaded gtk-sharp and typed

./configure --prefix==/usr/bin
make
make install

when I typed make and make install  It said 

"make: command not found"

When I tried to compile my gtk-sharp Main file 
using 

"mcs /home/brian/Desktop/Main.cs -pkg:gtk-sharp"

It gave me the following error:

"error CS8027: Couldn't run pkg-config: Cannot 
find the
specified file"
 
Is there a good website that could explain this to me?

Help anyone?
