[Gtk-sharp-list] set widget properties before autoconnect

Hi,
 
Does anyone have an example of how to use either of these functions:
 
Glade.XML.HandleWidgetProp(Gtk.Widget, string, string) or
Glade.XML.SetValueFromString(IntPtr, string, GLib.Value)
 
I think the second one is the function I want... What I am tring to do is use a glade file to construct an info dialog, but before I call autoconnect (which I think build the dialog from the file, connects signals, etc...) I want to change the value of the Gtk.Label widget before the dialog gets created.  Otherwise I get this uncomfortable blink in the dialog as it resizes when I set the Gtk.Label string after the window is shown.
