Rick,

That sounds a lot like something major in your mono or VS.net installation
is broken or missing. I didn't have the problems you're describing
(numerous missing DLLs).

If you connect to irc.gimp.org, #mono and #monodevelop are the Mono and
MonoDevelop channels, respectively. Mono has done a pretty good job of
renewing my interest in IRC from when I was 12 - I'd recommend checking it
out even if you're skeptical. :) If you're still having troubles, I'd be
more help "in person" than I am over email.
