They really should not be able to trademark the term ".NET".  It's
been in use for a very long time.  (Specifically, the ".NET" domain
name.  I.e., just like ".COM", ".ORG", ".EDU", etc.)

Then again, the shouldn't have been able to trademark the term
"Windows" either.

So... I guess it is up to Mike.  (It's up to him on what he wants
this stuff called.)  Mike??
