[Gtk-sharp-list] Gtk# Development Platform

Hello,

I have a (commercial) project that I'd like to write using
C# (via Mono) and Gtk#.

Now, what I use as my desktop (and development computer) is
Mandrake 8.2 with Ximian GNOME.

Now, although Mono is available via the "Mono Channel" on Red Carpet.
Gtk# unfortunately is not.

Now, I tried downloading and compiling Gtk# from the source
tarball. But it did not work. (I'm guessing this is because
Mandrake 8.2 does NOT have GObject, Glib2, Gtk+2, etc. I
can only guess that Mono, from Red Carpet, statically links
to these things.)

So... I was wondering, what the quickest way to set up a development
environment, where I can use Mono, Gtk#, and GtkHTML2#???

Should I upgrade to Mandrake 9.0? Should I use a different
distro? Is there something I can download for this distro?

Thanks for any help.

See ya
